January is the time of year where we all dig out the sports kit, dust off the trainers and head to the gym. Whilst this may only continue for a few weeks we can certainly apply some of these good intentions to the events we run.
When it comes to events and parties, let’s face it, they’re not necessarily about being healthy. However, without getting rid of the champagne and canapés we can suggest ways to ‘detox’ your events.
Have a healthy menu
We introduced healthy food to a few of our events last year, especially breakfasts at conferences and the feedback was that this was hugely appreciated. Often bad food will be eaten as it’s all on offer but it’s so simple to remove these temptations and add tasty but healthy snacks. Slow release energy breakfasts and will mean that your staff get more out of their events and go away feeling better about themselves.
Introducing ‘healthy hangover kits’
For those of you that want to ensure the champagne and wine is free flowing it’s worth thinking about the next day, especially if you are running the event on a school night. We have started supplying packs to the office the following day full of recuperation tricks such as smoothies, vitamins and high energy snacks. This is a great way to avoid a wasted day in the office following a party.
Healthy Shots
Yes you read that correctly! We have stumbled across a clever idea that could banish the next day cobwebs. The theory is that one of these shots before you leave the event will leave you feeling revitalized the following day. Worth a try we say!
Sweat it out
When you have a hangover, exercise is the last thing you feel like, however it does make a big difference so it’s well worth encouraging your staff to partake. In an attempt to encourage the team to digest much needed vitamins in a fun way we suggest introducing smoothie bikes to your office the following day. Riders race to complete the course, which in turn powers a blender resulting in not only an exercise induced high but a delicious smoothie. Perfect – and fun at the same time.
