It’s that time of year again, where the City transforms into a Christmas Wonderland (sort of), think twinkling lights, giant Christmas trees and of course, the show stopping shop windows! This week we were out and about visiting the world famous Selfridges, Liberties and Harrods shop windows, including our favourite high street store, John Lewis for a dash of inspiration and to get us in the Christmas mood…
Selfridges
In true Selfridge’s style, their windows were glitzy, modern and comical featuring a very jazzy Santa Claus on various wild and wonderful Alpine adventures. Each window is equally as fun as the last, adding a little twist to a Christmas classic and a lot of glitter! It’s time to “Gather, Give and Get on down.”
Harrods
This year, luxury fashion brand, Burberry has taken over all of the shop windows at Harrods to tell the story of two children on a Christmas adventure with their “Very British Fairytale.” The windows are very classic, quintessentially British with a modern twist to our old school fairytales, think flying cars, secret passageways and floating bathtubs.
John Lewis
If you haven’t seen the John Lewis Christmas advert already, then I would definitely recommend a quick YouTube search, as John Lewis’ windows tell the tale of Buster the Boxers adventures with his wild animal friends. Cheeky, mischievous and relatable to all ages, John Lewis’ windows depict woodland creatures cosied up in burrows with presents.
Liberty
Playing homage to The Royal Ballet’s famous dance, the Nutcracker, each one of Liberty’s window will be inspired by a different moment and key scene from the ballet. Every window has an artfully sculpted theatre set to tell the story through the windows.
