With the days slowly becoming longer and lighter, here at Story we are already wishing ourselves into those summer nights. What better way to distract yourself from these cold months, than to start thinking about summer events! To kickstart the planning, we have pulled together our top five venues for summer parties…
1. Woods Quay:
This stunning venue is RIBA award winning, a feat of engineering, and sits atop the Thames, rising and falling with the tide. Boasting uninterrupted panoramic river views and large riverside terraces, the space is perfect to host exceptional summer parties against the charming riverscape.
Maximum guest numbers: Woods Quay alone can cater for a total of 56 guests seated, or 250 standing. However, if your guest numbers are bigger, when combined with their additional space, the Silver Sturgeon, Woods Quay can hold up to a whooping 900 guests standing! Whatever the size of your party, Story can support in producing a memorable night at this unique venue.
Summer party timings: Woods Quay offer a maximum hire period 6am-2am, to ensure guests can really make the most of their time in the sun!
Types of catering for guests to enjoy: At Woods Quay, the options for catering range from food stations, to roving bowl food, and even fire cooked bites from the Ofyr fire pit!
2. Lost in Brixton:
Lost in Brixton rewards the urban explorer with year-round escapism, with it’s stunning indoor space as well as a secluded rooftop paradise in the heart of buzzing Brixton Village. Tucked away under the railway arches, guests can expect bright murals bursting with colour and beautiful rustic touches that take their cues from Santiago de Cuba on the vibrant island of Cuba. In the sunny summer months, Lost in Brixton opens their roof to let the sun and breeze in!
Maximum guest numbers: Lost in Brixton can hold up to 600 guests using a range of seating/standing options.
Summer party timings: The venue is open until midnight, to allow your guests to dance under the stars (if the weather allows!).
Types of catering for guests to enjoy: Lost in Brixton partners with local and sustainable street food vendors in Brixton Village Market on their event menus, from canapés and bowls to pop up vendors in the space and self-service buffets. Story Events can work with you and the vendors to curate a bespoke menu tailored to your guests.
3. Wagtail:
Split over two floors, Wagtail includes a restaurant with two private terraces, an elegant fully heated and covered rooftop terrace bar, and an exclusive private dining room in the cupola, crowning the building. This is perfect for summer events as there is a range of options, no matter what British summer weather brings! Wagtail also delivers ultimate 360° views of iconic London landmarks, such as Tower Bridge, St Paul’s Cathedral, The Shard, Gherkin, and the Walkie Talkie Building.
Maximum guest numbers: Wagtail can hold a maximum of 400 guests standing across the two floors.
Summer party timings: The 10th floor, along with all terraces closes at midnight. However, on the 9th floor (inside) guests can enjoy their summer party until 1:30am! Story can advise on the best entertainment options to suit your needs with these restrictions in place.
Types of catering for guests to enjoy: Wagtail offers a range of options, including delicious canapes, substantial large bites, refreshing cocktails, and much more!
4. Uncommon Liverpool Street:
Looking to hold your summer party in the City? Look no further, the well-connected Uncommon Liverpool Street Uncommon workspace houses a beautiful Café Lounge and Roof Terrace Space – with amazing city views. This space is perfect for an evening reception and will be sure to wow your guests on those Spring or Summer nights!
Maximum guest number: The Café Lounge & Roof Terrace spaces can house up to 200 standing guests, perfect for those slightly more intimate gatherings.
Summer party timings: These beautiful spaces are available from 5pm-11pm on weekdays, and longer over weekends, subject to bespoke requirements. At Story we can support in securing the best date and timings based on your brief.
Types of catering for guests to enjoy: This space does not offer their own catering, however with Story’s assistance we can be sure to bring in the best and most suitable caterer for your event.
5. The Bowls Club:
Set within a feel-good, vibrant English country garden themed space in the heart of the city, The Bowls Club is London’s ultimate outdoor summer party destination, perfect for team-building, networking and entertaining. This venue will combine a short, fast form of lawn bowls, with a variety of summery cocktails, and delicious street foods. The Bowls Club taps into the power of nostalgia by bringing Finsbury Square to life in an immersive, quintessentially British way.
Maximum guest number: The Bowls Club can hold up to 750 standing.
Summer party timings: The Bowls Club is popping up in Finsbury Square on 16 dates between May and September 2024. On each day the event opens at midday and closes at 11pm, so make sure to contact us here to start the planning process if this sounds like a venue perfect for you!
