“Over the last few months I’ve seen some great spaces that have pushed the pop up concept a little further – I’ve been impressed with the quirky use of unusual spaces that I really would never have imagined would be used as venues!

One of the best examples is the refurbishment of old public toilets into bars – the best example I think being WC (Wine and Charcuterie) in Clapham Common. The candlelit bar is housed where the toilets would have been and the space feels secret, intimate and quite fun.

I also like Jimmy Garcia’s projects – especially the Wine Shop concept in Clapham North – you choose your wines upstairs and then hidden underneath the shop a dinner space is created where Jimmy and his team serve delicious food that matches well with the wines.

It’s also exciting to see spaces that I’ve never even heard of coming onto the market – the space that formerly housed the Cochrane Theatre and Central St. Martin’s College is a huge space located so centrally and I cant wait to use it.

Clients are always looking for something new so the regeneration of unusual spaces that still have that secret feel are the perfect offering. At Story, we love spending hours researching and visiting these new and hidden spaces, so that we can bring these fresh venue ideas to our clients.”
