EVENT BRIEF
Philip Morris asked the Story team to organise a fun filled yet relaxed in-person staff summer party in September. This would be the first time everyone reunited since the pandemic began – so it needed to energise and inspire! The client requested an outside venue for 300 staff members, with wet weather contingency of course! They also wanted a laid-back approach to catering, charismatic entertainment, and a WOW moment. They also included a nod to the LGBTQI+ community via a Pride colour scheme and drag performers.
DELIVERY
Having completed a venue shortlist, Story hosted site visits with the client to see the options first-hand. Regents University with its stunning lawns and marquee were chosen as the perfect location to host the festival inspired event.
To gather all RSVPs, dietary requirements and communicate covid policies, Story Events created a bespoke registration platform. This was wholly unique to this event and fully branded. This was a great way to give guests a taster of what was to come.
Story sourced festival décor to install throughout the venue. Taking inspiration from the Pride colours, we created a multi-coloured backdrop with oil drum poseurs tables, beanbags, bunting, deck chairs and flags. As this event was hosted during the daytime, it provided the perfect opportunity for garden games, picnic blankets and two giant deck chairs.
No summer party would be complete without delicious catering. Regent’s University provided an incredible BBQ menu, plus a sweet station for everyone to enjoy.
The guests enjoyed live band on arrival, which set the tone of the day. With the festival theme in mind, we included a Tarot Card Reader whose quirky charm had staff eager to know their future. Once we got later into the afternoon Story arranged for Freight Train to take over the DJ decks. No event would be complete without a photobooth with flower backdrop and props, allowing guests to capture the memories throughout the day.
And finally, the WOW moment…
Combining Pride, festival fun and immersive entertainment, Story Events arranged a larger than life Drag Queen Bingo experience. Party with Ginger was boisterous, beautiful and a barrel of laughs from start to finish. Complete with the drag host, Ginger, two drag performers and the drag DJ, everyone was up on their feet dancing!
