EVENT BRIEF
Having worked with Together for Short Lives since 2018, Story Events were thrilled to win the tender to work as this wonderful charity’s Event Management agency on what would be our fourth TFSL Fundraising Ball. The 2023 brief was to be bigger and better than ever before. With a new headline sponsor (the incomparable Morrisons) and the highest fundraising target yet, the team set to work on venue sourcing and creative theme development in order to deliver a magical night to remember.
DELIVERY
Working with the client’s criteria of creating a feeling of childlike wonder in the room and with the headline sponsor’s values in mind, the 2023 Ball theme was created. The 2023 TFSL Ball was set to be a celebration of spring! A country market with all the frivolous fun of a spring fete.
The Brewery was chosen as the venue for the Ball as it offered the scope for a high-impact celling installation which would be the centre piece for our spring theming. Its multiple rooms also allowed for the guests to fully immerse themselves as they travelled though the spaces of our spring wonderland.
The evening began in a glorious apple orchard created with both white and pink blossom trees forming a spring avenue for guests to sip champagne and enjoy canapés under. After the drinks reception, the guests travelled up to the Porter Tun and into Market Street where fresh fruit and vegetables (generously donated by Morrisons) were beautifully set dressed in a variety of wooden market stalls, branded apple crates and hessian sacks. The fruit and vegetable fun did not end there; our wonderful florists also created incredibly playful table centres using a mix of florals and fresh vegetables. Story Events ensured that all the produce was collected after the event by the fabulous Felix Project to make sure that nothing went to waste.
The guests dined bellow a beautiful ribbon installation that was representative of a may pole and two huge ficus trees bordered either side of the stage. A fresh foliage and spring flower archway allowed guests to gather underneath to take photos to remember their night. Story also designed this year’s fundraising activations; a bespoke Cabbage Shy and Fruity Wheel of Fortune kept guests entertained all night.
The night was star studded and OK! Magazine again had exclusive rights to the event; they interviewed VIPs at the branded step and repeat board, complete with a spring pink carpet.
Story managed the full running order of the evening which included speeches from the charity’s patron Simon Cowell and culminated in a thirty-minute set from the dazzling Peter Andre which had the whole room up and dancing.
Silent and live auctions were also conducted on the night and the Story team were on hand to help during the vital pledging moment which saw this year’s fundraising total reach over £371,000 for children with life limiting conditions and their families living in the UK.
RESULT
It was such a privilege for Story to work on this event for the fourth time; the atmosphere in the room was simply magical and so many vital funds were raised for this truly wonderful charity.
“Thank you so much for all this and just to add my personal thanks to you and the exceptional team at Story for making this event so flawless”.
